Career Background:

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young. In 1981 I joined an independent PR newswire company in Fleet Street. After the company was acquired by The Press Association I was appointed Financial Controller and helped lead the company through a significant acquisition/merger. Appointed FD of the newly combined company. In 1992 I moved up to the holding company and was appointed Group Financial Controller. I managed the relocation of my department to Leeds - appointed Head of Finance. Subsequently also appointed Company Secretary but in 2003 opted for a career break and to pursue a portfolio lifestyle. I now combine a non-executive directorship with other part-time contracts and business advice.

Comments:

I have a practical, common sense approach to decision making. While my background is in financial management, for the last ten years I have been more involved in general management. Honesty and integrity at personal and corporate levels have been hallmarks of my career to date. I am used to dealing with colleagues with sensitivity and firmness as required. Focussing on Yorkshire and the North East I am available for short-term projects elsewhere in the country.
